Mexican-born Yesenia Serratos trained as both an interpretive artist and a dedicated choreographer for over a decade in various dance communities both in the U.S. and abroad. Fueled by a passion for dance that began in her hometown, Yesenia was drawn to the United States where she continued her dancing in Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary.
Beginning her professional dance career in Chicago, Yesenia performed as a member of companies such as Joel Hall Dancers and Luna Negra Dance Theater. After three years teaching and performing Jazz and Ballet, she decided to continue her dance journey in Los Angeles, where she became the top Ballet Instructor and Choreographer at Simi Dance Center. Yesenia also became a leading member of both the Los Angeles Choreographers and Media City Ballet companies, again both as a performer and an instructor.Yesenia has trained in a wide variety of dance styles and techniques, including Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Ballroom, and Hustle. She has performed at the Kodak Theater, Greek Theater, Nokia Theater LA Live, as well as at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City-Walk.
She currently teaches, performs, and competes in Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Hustle, and Ballroom dance competitions with her dance partner, Raul Santiago. Yesenia has found a passion for Latin Jazz, a fusion of the vibrant jazz technique and traditional latin rhythms that have grown so well-known and loved. She spends her days performing, teaching, and choreographing these styles, which invigorate both her personal dancing as well as the lessons she passes on to her students.
